mostly, we just serve text – all images are grabbed from elsewhere on the web.
As a CEO it is my responsibility to bring together the following resources:
METANOTES is a new kind of wiki, a far more interactive way of creating a knowledge repository than exists elsewhere, a dynamic new way to conduct virtual teams. It leaves other “online whiteboards” in the dust, as far as we have seen, and generates a different type of social network aligned around information objects as well as the people that posted them.
METANOTES resembles at first glance the famous “IDEO wall of post-it notes” brainstorming process, but held online and with notes that can contain images, video, widgets, or API-linked data. It represents a dramatic new way to share and create information. This section of our business plan discusses the possibilities for developing METANOTES into a multi-billion dollar enterprise collaboration service.
METANOTES has been developed as an “operating system for web 2.0”; a portal that begins with your own notes from your last session rather than simply a search prompt or some random news. Since many concepts can be arranged and re-arranged on a single page by multiple users, we believe that teams making use of METANOTES will accept no substitutes once they learn the system.
Here’s a sample space that we’re using to develop our back-to-school marketing plan: http://www.metanotes.com/emery/Marketing+Plan
Our users are also having a lot of fun creating spaces to express their identities and interests: http://www.metanotes.com/manditron/I+Am+Mochi
If you’ll notice on the top right hand corner of the interface, METANOTES integrates several leading Web 2.0 iphone applications (Gmail, Twitter, Facebook, Photobucket, 30Boxes) which could be customized depending on the enterprise deployment requirements (e.g. Salesforce or internal email). We have also devised a quick-entry tool, “The Time Log”, which acts as a Twitter-like private journal that remains persistent no matter where the user may be in the system. The Time Log is already compatible with every smartphone we’ve tested, in effect extending METANOTES into the pocket.
Our product roadmap includes adding privacy, email integration, notifications, a “presentation view” to let visitors examine spaces as if they were Powerpoint decks, Google Gears to boost performance, a published API so as to leverage the developer community as well as existing wikis/databases and applications like MS Office and Salesforce, smoother integration with Scribd in order to easily share Office documents, and a custom audio-capture flash widget developed internally which lets users speak directly into METANOTES from their onboard microphone. Naturally, we plan to build administrative and customization tools to sell into academia and the enterprise, while simultaneously improving the end-user experience to trigger obsessive usage of the platform. We are using METANOTES to manage the METANOTES development process and sub-projects, and see our raw prototype as already superior to anything else on the Web today.
The enterprise collaboration market in 2009 will be massive, and we believe that our success with students this back to school year will catapult us into consideration by those who will drive the purchase of these systems. We have built a business plan that specifies where and how we would work with outside financing to achieve the following goals:
Our brand concept of “meta-” suggests all-inclusive and omnipresent, and our product development, marketing, partnership and user relations strategies reflect this drive.
We are creating an astoundingly useful, fast and flexible alternative to the morass generated by enterprise wikis.
We believe the reluctance of enterprises to commit to a platform gives our team an opportunity to suggest a superior substitute to the enterprise market by early 2009.
METANOTES throws fun and ease of training into the once-bland notion of an intranet application, as well as disruptive elements such as real-time synchronicity that break the mold of the current collaboration software paradigm of static full pages.
We look forward to selling it to all kinds of businesses for all kinds of customized purposes (CRM, marketing, information warehouse, telecommuting).
Companies like Intel and Dell are blazing the collaboration trail for the enterprise, and we want to offer them a superior paradigm for a new central nervous system for their employees and managers.
