TIP: get ready to SCROLL.

we are certain you can handle it psychologically. on a mac just use the two fingers technique to scroll superfast. you can also click & drag the background and…

check out the new quicknav panel – click that four-arrow icon on the top right and zoop around!

sonicsrini / 2008-04-21 18:06:40

Have you DOUBLE-CLICKED the background yet ?!

do it now if you haven’t yet.

find a blank area of space and double-click it. see what happened? a new note is created!!! just start typing into the SUBJECT line of the new note, and then hit return, and then start typing into the BODY of the new note. it’s a lot like writing an email to your future self.

Welcome / 2008-01-16 21:45:05

TIP: the quicknav panel

  • click it to “zoop” to the top left of the entire space!
  • this is a quick and good thing to do if you get lost on a page or want to go back to the beginning.

Welcome / 2008-01-17 00:52:17

TIP: explore the top menus

for instance, you can visit other users by selecting “metanotes -> users”

Welcome / 2008-01-15 23:54:06

TIP: bulletpoints using asterisks

  • if you want to create a bulleted list in a metanote,
    • and i know you do…
  • you need to know what an asterisk is.
  • it’s the little “star” that shows up when you hit Shift-8 on any standard keyboard.
  • If you begin any new line in a metanote with “asterisk” and then a space, this will begin a BULLET LIST automatically!
    • To make sub-bullets, enter two asterisks at the beginning of the line.
  • It’s very simple once you get used to it!!!

Welcome / 2008-01-17 00:49:50

TIP: more about the TIME LOG

it’s an iphone app too so you can take metanotes with you wherever you go if you have one of those.

stickernation / 2008-02-10 20:52:32

TIP: this is REAL TIME.

If you are on a space, invite others to the same space!

You’ll see their notes pop up, move, and fill with content in real time!

Just email them the URL and tell them to register!

sonicsrini / 2008-03-18 17:18:16

TIP: create your profile

go to your “My Profile” space and add photos, images, video, widgets

metanotes / 2008-03-14 18:31:40

see how big the space is ?

see how much space there is to play with here?

and you can start as many spaces as you want.

sonicsrini / 2008-04-21 18:15:55

if you scroll all the way to the bottom & right...

i have left a bunch of notes in this ghosty theme that are more “philosophical” i guess.

sonicsrini / 2008-04-21 18:21:27

TIP: formatting your text with TEXTILE

Textile makes it easy to add special formatting. Use the following conventions:

  • create bullet lists with asterisk-space as a line opener
  • insert images by bracketing the URL with exclamation points
  • bold text by bracketing it with asterisks
  • italicize text by bracketing it with UNDERSCORES (that’s shift-dash on your keyboard)
  • to separate paragraphs, hit the enter key two times – textile doesn’t recognize “newline” with just one enter.

you can make text HUGE by starting a new line with h1.

you can make text less huge but still big by starting a new line with h2.

don’t forget the period-space for h1. & h2.

Welcome / 2008-02-09 03:18:04

remember

you can click the gray arrow on the top right of the screen to scroll “home” at any time from anywhere.

sonicsrini / 2008-04-21 18:19:12

and you can even have MORE space than this.

just change the dimensions of the space in “settings”.

sonicsrini / 2008-04-21 18:17:19
