It was the 1st novel series I had ever heard of. When I first bought it (through a book club) I was about twelve years old. I couldn’t read it in one sitting, but I sure tried. It was `Only` three books at the time. I thought it was perfect. Of course, about 20 years later he started adding to it, and thus pointed out all the flaws in his own novels.
