• Look for large datasets to analyze, spidering sites?

• popularity gauge? start with band/artist/famous person with comment-able web content, and analyze all comments coming up with an aggregate of ideas about artist which is analyzed to determine popularity.

Simple Content and Photo Gallery

Options: Build it myself or use a packaged solution.

Solution Possibilities:

• Drupal
• Joomla

Never used either so it gives me a learning opportunity as well.

If built myself I would most likely use Django

As I join new services and subscribe to new feeds I am finding a great deal of overlap when going through my aggregate feed. I need a better way to filter these duplicates.

The biggest culprit of these duplicate items is the lifestreaming content, ie. I post to twitter which is picked up by plaxo and friendfeed and I end up seeing the same post 3 times.

Other Thoughts

• Content Repositories: A way to view/search/tag (lets just say manage) all your content from blog posts to tweets to comments left on someone else’s blog.

Implementation:

• Need way to get unique citation.
  • Based off content URL.
  • Hash using md5, sha1, etc
  • Create web service to retrieve citations.
  • Should be symmetrical
• How is it included with the content?
  • HTML Comments?
  • GUID in XML

Challenges:

• Micro-Content: If using a URL as an identifier how to I identify small pieces of content that are part of another url? Blog Comments, Tweets, etc.
• Adoption: This is the big one, how do I get people to use it? My initial thoughts are it needs to be open and simple, no one organization should control this standard or its services.
