I was glad to, really. I saw the email and kind of made this very dignified ‘squee’ noise. Notes are nice, and virtually even more so.

besides, if someone is gonna show off in my state I feel like I should have some part in it :D

San Antonio, just about an hour south of Austin. I used to live in Austin about two years ago, too. SXSW is a trip if you ever get another chance to go.

i think the whole idea of inviting other people to come to a space and chat is really important. this “different kind of chat” which leaves basically a blog in its wake seems really important.

oh, yes. I wish I could make it up there this weekend, if only because it’s probably the only time Kimya Dawson is going to be anywhere nearby for a long while.

and I think Hogwild records on main st. downtown sells them, too. or, did. I haven’t been down that way in years, so I’m not sure.

i love a lot of acoustic music by hipsters, if you know what i mean, i really can’t think of a better word to describe them, they do all seem like professional hipsters to me, but i’m not resentful because they make pretty good music some of them :)

hah, just look at most of the stuff that ends up in my fanmixes…

anti-folk and bluegrass and indie all kinda stuck in a blender. I love it.

there are a lot of parts that are tourist traps, and rightfully so.

but, down main st. and around the market square area, it’s amazing. there’s even a new art museum downtown, and even when it is touristy it’s beautiful.

then again, I may be biased.

i am so appreciative when they keep the downtown alive like that.

what part of texas ? it’s a big state – i went through the northern part near amarillo last summer

i have never been there, is there a store there called sundance records ? i think i sell stickers there but i have never visited (not to mention the alamo)

i loved juno that was super good.

Would it be just adding another option to account settings? or maybe give each user a different version of their own settings for each notes page?

i got to play my acoustic guitar at the river front in new bern for two years, it was so wonderful. then the san francisco stuff sort of creeped back in via a drum machine program over which i could overlay the acoustic guitar, it is a cool sound.

..the only instrument I can play is the clarinet and a few variations thereof. singing too, but not well enough to go out and do it around folks who would listen.

church choir was a rare exception, of course, and the indignity of that was soothed by the whole leaving thing that happened.

is the downtown alive and classic or touristy or dead ?

• right in the “color” wizard, we can put a “set as default” checkbox. if you check that box, all your future notes will be that color.
• we’ll also have a user-preferences menu option which will let people set their default note color.

in a way, notes are battleships on a coordinate grid

it’d be interesting to “fire” at notes on other spaces

we should actually have a way to see a quick linear list of other users notes while you’re chatting

obviously this is great for multithreaded wideranging discussions but i should see where you last made a note and vice versa

like there should be a dynamic note index so we can quickly nav around to new notes

we can have a panel that has several things in it:

• list of notes on this space
• list of spaces in this account
• friends/teammates (we haven’t built the social network side of this yet)
• user preferences

they could be tabs so that everything is in one sidebar

some notes are “needy”

some notes are “low-maintenance”

Southern Baptist, actually. lots of singing there, which was more of a joy than most of the sermons.

i want to zoop around a space in a lot of different ways

you can sort of do this in the “notes” menu under the spacename but it isn’t updated automatically nor is it super obvious

a sidebar would be good for zooping! if it automatically updates with maybe the title of the note and the first few words of it (for when there isn’t a title) with a little clicky for the zooping (wow I’m technical) it’d be very handy while notechatting.

some notes i create are just a thought.

some notes i create are questions to which i hope to get responses.

some notes are “beginning of a new thought or thread” – not quite questions but i still hope to get responses.

it’d be good if you could create a like “hey respond to this” flag for other users to see – that way you could scan a space for notes that are hoping to get responses and take the flag down when you’ve responded. and then the creator of the note who hoisted the flag in the first place would get a notfication that someone responded to their flag.

I grew up in a church, for the most part. walking distance from my house, and I was there longer than most of the other members.

left, though, when i was 15 and we got a new pastor who was a lot more concerned with buying a new building and getting on TV than he was with, you know, god.

church camp was always fun, though. lots of singing and throwing pudding at each other in the name of Jesus. well, pudding and shaving creme.

i used to go to southern baptist sunday school believe it or not!

my across-the-street neighbors were mr. & mrs. ellis

jim was a preacher who moved up from georgia to be the pastor in poughkeepsie and so his wife taught sunday school for all the little kids

she was so cool, always would drink grapeade and taught with cartoons (i was like 5)

she played the autoharp, i remember that

maybe also a tab for ‘favorites’ of a kind? where you could keep track of the spaces outside your own that you participate in most often? with a tracker that will let you know when someone else updates notes on it?

being able to flag notes for response would be beautiful. maybe with just adding an image to it, or it could be denoted by the color of the title bar?

There are always so many tabs to choose from, can’t blame you.

i totally conked out asleep.

then i woke up, went to get post-austin groceries (no coffee this morning? wot?! must fix that) and then to in&outburger and then home. just sort of rebooted.

no worries about it. sleep is necessary to function like a human, sometimes. sleep and/or lots of coffee.

...would be magnificent! i hardly ever use my twitter account, save when I’m actually using metanotes. maybe find a way to automate updates so people could subscribe to different spaces.

like, each space would have an account and every time it’s updated, a twitter message goes out for anyone watching it to see. sort of like subscribing to an RSS feed, I guess.

it probably wouldn’t work as well in practice as it does in my head, but it’s a thought.

we need to have an easy option for users to set their default note color so that you can, say, be kermit the frog all day long as your default note scheme and make that part of your identity when notechatting.
