Sometimes we just need to DUMP out all the crap that’s happened to us. Imagaine, if we could take all the hurt and pain and sadness and just TOSS it out!
How do people toss out their memories these days? The problem is they replace rather than clean or clear their minds. An old car trades for a new one. A mental image of your naked ex-girlfriend gets replaced by images of a new naked girlfriend.
“You know why you can’t get over the girlfriend? Because you can still picture your old one naked. You need to come with me to the strip club and fill your mind with as many naked chicks as possible to make it harder to remember your ex.
CBT teaches us to replace our formerly depressed thoughts and put new, distracted ones in there. Imagine if humans were capable of changing their depressed/neurotic/distorted thought patterns at will.
Psychiatric drugs are often described as muddling the mind and slowing it down enough for impulse control.

Blood-letting cures illnesses.
